Irregular Menstruation
Whether you're suffering from short or long cycles, light or heavy periods. The length can mean a variety of different things.
Long cycles are common in PCOS and perimenopause, hypothyroidism . Long cycles are generally characterised as longer than 35days.
Short cycles: perimenopause, anovulation. Short cycles are generally less than 24 days. Cycles that are less than 21 days are usually anovulatory cycles, (no ovulation)
Light menstruation: Common in PCOS, hypothalamic amenorrhea, endometriosis, under-eating, extreme stress, pregnancy :)
Heavy menstruation: Common in fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, polyps, cysts, miscarriage, hypothyroidism, perimenopause, pelvic inflammatory disease. Heaviness is defined by excessive blood loss which may be difficult to manage, cause leakage, having to change pads/underwear frequently.

Hormonal Migraines
These typically occur around the two peak drops of oestrogens in our cycle: ovulation and before a bleed onset.
Hormonal migraines can be really debilitating and severely affect quality of life, causing women to miss work or have difficulty holding down a job.
Key approach: look for particular nutritional deficiencies, timed cyclical hormonal testing.

Men's Fertility | Semen Health
I'm very passionate about men and partners getting involved and committed to their health. I like to take a preventative approach where we use comprehensive testing to optimise overall health and nutritional status for good DNA, sperm health and general well being.
I believe if partners talk about their health and a health assessment it shows good teamwork, support and dedication to their partner and future family.
How do we assess? Detailed case taking about all things health/wellbeing/diet, pathology recommendations, semen analysis.

PCOS: Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome
Defined by irregular menstruation: usually longer in length rather than shorter. Eg. 35+++ days. Some women experience only a few cycles per year.
Symptoms can vary and range from: irregular cycles, irregular ovulation, hirsutism (unwanted male pattern hair growth), hair loss/alopecia, acne, breast tenderness, difficulty maintaining weight, anxiety, sugar cravings.
Treatment: we will aim to find your PCOS type or what's driving your PCOS symptoms. Common types are: Adrenal, Insulin resistant, inflammatory, post-pill.
Every type of PCOS needs different treatment and recommendations to be able to manage the symptoms.

Endometriosis & Adenomyosis
Endometriosis is characterised by the growth of endometrial-like tissue outside the uterine space.
Clinical symptoms are varied but can range from: Painful menstruation, painful ovulation, heavy menstruation, chronic pelvic pain, painful intercourse, painful bowel movements or urination, IBS-like symptoms, difficulty conceiving, mood instability, some women also having no symptoms at all.
Location; can be found all over the body, in the uterus, ovaries, tubes, bowels, etc.
Adenomyosis: is endometrial-like tissue found within the uterine muscular wall. Often described as a 'bulky uterus' on ultrasound.
Clinical symptoms may include: heavy menstrual bleeds, painful menstruation, irregular bleeding patterns, difficulty conceiving.
Due to the extensive range of symptoms in both endometriosis and adenomyosis there are equally as extensive range in treatments. An empathetic and individualised approach is key here for helping my clients with the right referrals and testing.

Hormonal acne can be very common in PCOS and androgen excess related conditions. Classic hormonal acne is generally located on the cheeks, chin, and jawline and neck.

Dietary modifications can play a key role as do particular nutrients.
